The Design under the Skin project launches integrated collections in Paris

15/09/2017

Design is found throughout Paris this month! The participation of Brazilian leather in the next  Première Vision fair, from September 19 – 21, will have an additional component to present to buyers and stylists all creation and quality potential of the national tannery industry. It is the Design under the Skin project – with a combined footwear and furniture collection – which will be exhibited as a special show at the entrance of Hall 3 of the fair, a unique compilation that is to be one of the main attractions of this season's Première Vision.

The participation of the Design under the Skin at the fair and the exhibition of five tanneries in the show have the support of the project to encourage the internationalization of the Brazilian leather

This is the first time that the footwear and furniture collections of the latest Design under the Skin are exhibited together – before, they had distinct launches in Las Vegas (footwear) and in New York (furniture). In this edition, the Brazilian Leather (CICB + Apex-Brasil) project was supported by Abicalçados, through the Brazilian Footwear project, and Sindmóveis, through the Raiz Project.

The collection:

Nova Kaeru + JBS Couros + Sollos + Jader Almeida

Pieces: Mia chair (with pirarucu skin), Norma chair (navy leather upholstery) and Mad armchair (navy leather upholstery). The structure of all pieces features solid wood.

Curtume Rusan + Moora + Latoog Design

Piece: Trópicos armchair (solid wood structure and seat, upholstered back with suede).

Cortume Krumenauer  + BRV + Marta Manente

Pieces: Revoar swing (curved plywood, coated with leather), coffee table (wood with leather details, hand braided yarn) and Recanto stool (curved plywood, coated with leather).

Couros Bom Retiro + Patrícia Viera + Guilhermina Shoes

The collection: women's shoes. The partnership between two benchmarks for the women’s segment (Patrícia Viera for leather clothes and Guilhermina for shoes) resulted in products featuring femininity. Fluidity, leather with embroidery, laser cutouts, mosaics and hand sewing patches set the tone for the collection.

Couros Bom Retiro + Curtume Moderno + Curtume Rusan + Ronaldo Fraga + Kildare

The collection: Kildare is a traditional brand of men's footwear in Brazil, focused on the men's casual segment. Ronaldo Fraga's proposal for the Design under the Skin was to introduce new colors and shapes into the collection, making a symbiosis of the brand’s classic style with the urban aesthetics of skateboarding. Flexible leather resembling canvas was used to achieve the innovative result that will be seen in Platform.
