Bento Gonçalves hosts furniture roadshow

Events held in the major Brazilian furniture centers are part of the Bigger Brazil Plan Bento Gonçalves will host the third phase of the Competitiveness and Innovation Roadshow for the Furniture Industry, which has been held throughout the year by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) in the main furniture manufacturing centers in the country. One the initiatives presented will be the Ochestra Brasil, a project organized by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves in partnership with Apex-Brasil for exporting suppliers of the woodworking industry and design service. Part of the Bigger Brazil Plan, the event also held in Chapecó (SC) and Mirassol (SP) aims to present projects to boost exports and exchange of experiences among exporters. The initiative includes programs, lines of credit, products and services provided by the institutions that comprise the Furniture Competitiveness Council and the Bigger Brazil Plan. High on the agenda is competitiveness, innovation and qualification of the woodworking industry. With overall positive performance in all months of the year, exports of the companies participating in the Orchestra Brasil Project grew by 18.6% from January to August 2013, compared to the same period last year. The performance is particularly positive when considering that Brazilian exports dropped by 1.3% in the same comparison, in addition to the Brazilian trade balance deficit in this year. This result was achieved thanks to the growth in relevant markets for the companies participating in the project, such as the United States, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Ecuador – all featuring more than 20% increase in the period. The Roadshow, sponsored by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), with the support of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), the Furniture Industry Association Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Movergs) and Sindmóveis, is part of the Bigger Brazil program developed by the federal government. The third phase of the initiative will be held on October 8, starting at 1:30pm in the auditorium of Senai/Cetemo (Rua President Costa e Silva, 571).
