Taking effect in August, a provisional measure will change the model of the Social Security payment used by furniture companies

\nThe Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gon\u00e7alves (Sindm\u00f3veis) has been promoting a series of meetings for the member companies, accounting firms and legal firms to answer questions about Provisional Measure no. 563\/2012, \u00a0which included furniture manufacturers in the sectors that will collect the Social Security payment based on income, instead of the percentage of 20% on the payroll.

\nThe new law will take effect on August 1, when furniture companies will pay the equivalent of 1% \u00a0of their gross revenue, excluding export sales value, payment of IPI (tax on manufactured products), returns and discounts. Initially, the measure will bring greater benefit to companies with less automated production and high rates of hired labor – approximately 85% of the member companies of Sindm\u00f3veis.

\nHowever companies with higher added value in their production and which outsource labor might not be able to benefit at the beginning. “Nevertheless, taking into account the seasonality of the market, also the companies that feel disadvantaged will benefit during \u00a0the months of low income – more particularly when they are below 70% of their turnover capacity,” says the \u00a0labor law director of Sindm\u00f3veis, Gilberto Bertarello.
