On January 11, 12 and 15, the Salão Design Award receives, in Bento Gonçalves, the 58 entries selected for the final phase of the judging process. The finalists include projects developed by students, professionals and manufacturing companies from Brazil, Argentina, Cuba and Uruguay. In the final phase, the judging committee will assess the pieces in person, defining the winners of the 22nd Salão Design Award.<\/p>\n
This edition’s judging committee consists of Brazilian designers Brunno Jahara, Bruno Faucz, Letícia Grisa and Nicole Tomazi in addition to Salvatore Figliuzzi from Germany. As set forth in the regulation, during the second eliminatory phase, the judges evaluate the compliance of the product with the project presented in the first phase. Other criteria taken into account include ergonomics, finishing, degree of formal and technological innovation, environmental impact and production feasibility. During the selection of the winners, products that have safety requirements may also be submitted to the technical analysis of the SENAI Institute for Wood and Furniture Technology.<\/p>\n
The main change in the 2018 award is the elimination of the traditional categories in which competitors used to sign up. Now, each class (Student, Professional and Industry \/ Retail) will have first, second and third places. Three super-awards will also be given to the best products of this event. The prizes that are still being awarded include the Master Teacher trophy and the Alternative Woods Award, the latter given in partnership with the Brazilian Forest Service.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by Berneck and Interprint, the Salão Design Award is the largest product design award in Latin America and, in 2018, it will celebrates its 30th anniversary organized Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves. The final phase of the judging process will be on January 23, and the winners will be announced on the first week of February. The placement of the winners, however, will be a surprise that will only be disclosed in March, during Movelsul Brasil 2018 – when the award ceremony and the product show take place.<\/p>\n
