Featuring 120 Brazilian companies registered for the business meetings, Movelsul Brasil 2016 will have the greatest Buyer’s Project in its history. The foreign retailers and distributors with potential for importing Brazilian furniture come from 14 countries: Argentina, Bulgaria, Qatar, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, United States, France, Morocco, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay and Saint Martin. The project has the support of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and is held since Movelsul Brasil in 2000.<\/p>\n

This year’s Buyer’s Project is again adopting the in-booth meeting format, providing Brazilian companies with an opportunity to have a more comprehensive presentation of their products. Most of the countries invited to the meetings do or has done business with Brazil at some point. However, some markets do not usually import Brazilian furniture such as Bulgaria and Morocco – a strategy adopted for the diversification of markets and customers. On average, each guest importer imports $1.2 million annually.<\/p>\n

The President of Sindimóveis Henrique Tecchio, points out that the integration with the international market is essential for business sustainability, increased competitiveness and consequent development of the industry. According to him, the size of the international market and the potential of the furniture industry justify the investment in exports and international business. "Regarding the world furniture imports – approximately $160 billion – Brazil accounts for less than 0.5% of this market share. There is great potential and Brazilian exports still have much room to grow,” he says.<\/p>\n

The Export Manager of the exhibiting company Santos Andirá, Rodney Silva, believes that this is an important tool for companies that intend to start their export business or to increase their portfolio of international clients. He points out that the exports within companies make it possible to compete with companies of different sizes and with different customer profiles, encouraging improvements in quality and product. "In our case, wardrobes are our flagship product in exports. For the fair, we have invested in a new modern line, with new textures and colors – and above all, at a very attractive price"<\/p>\n

Other projects carried out by the fair this year include the exhibition of the Salão Design Award products and the Senai Innovation Gran Prix, a competition between multidisciplinary teams focused on finding solutions to manufacturing companies. Two hundred manufacturers will exhibit furniture for offices, kitchens, bedrooms, laundry rooms, bathrooms, living and dining rooms in addition to garden furniture, home appliances, rugs, upholstered goods and mattresses. An estimated 30,000 trade visitors are expected to attend the show generating $300 million in business in the next 12 months.
