Projects from 15 countries will be assessed starting next Friday by the judging panels<\/em>

On Friday, November 14, the juldging panel of Salão Design 2015 will begin to evaluate the 830 projects entered in the 19th edition of the award, held since 1988 by Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves. Creations of students, professionals and manufacturing companies were received in seven categories: Lighting; Furniture for bedrooms; Furniture for living and dining rooms; Furniture for kitchens, laundry rooms and bathrooms; Furniture for outdoor areas; Furniture for offices and home-offices; and Household utensils<\/em><\/div>\n
With an increasing participation of foreigners, the prize is a benchmark for the appreciation of copyright design, especially in Latin America. For this edition, projects from 15 countries were entered, and the largest foreign participation came from Uruguay, Cuba, Argentina and Colombia. The director of Salão Design, Cristiane Silveira, also celebrates the increase in the number of projects submitted by manufacturing companies. "This is the ideal place to explore creativity, entrepreneurship, sustainability and technological innovation in the furniture industry. The increased participation of companies is a cause for celebration, as we have long supported the idea of differentiation through design," she says.<\/em><\/div>\n
The judgment of Salão Design is done in two phases. In the first, held from November 14-28, the graphic projects entered will be judged by five judges: architects Ilse Lang and Isabela Vecci; designers Ivens Fontoura and Leonardo Lattavo; and executive Gláucia Binda, who will represent the industry. The selected products will be announced on December. Afterwards the contestants will have until May 2015 to send the products or prototypes in natural size to Bento Gonçalves.<\/em><\/div>\n
The cash prize this edition will total R$ 205,000 and the winners will also receive the Salão Design Stamp, which can be used on the product as recognition of its excellence. Additionally, the traditional Master Teacher award will be given to the advisor of the projects entered by the awarded students, and the Alternative Woods award, which rewards the best project produced from species that the Brazilian Forest Service considers as not commonly used.<\/em><\/div>\n
